Story

Southwark Cathedral and the Robes Project have been organising annual SleepOuts to help homeless people in South London for the last ten years.

This year will be different for our SleepOut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This time we are asking you to join us from home for our Sponsored SleepIn: a night of entertainment, friendly competitions, opportunities to hear from Robes guests, and a special service streamed from Southwark Cathedral.

We are looking for 400 wonderful people to register for our SleepIn. If you'd like to join, we are asking you to give up your bed for the night and sleep on your floor, in your garden, in a tent, on your balcony: or wherever else you can safely sleep.

We would love for you to take part, and to ask your friends and colleagues to sponsor your fundraising challenge.

The SleepOut is usually the Robes Projects biggest source of income, and this year all the proceeds will go to our much-needed coronavirus response work including:

- Partnering with Southwark council to work with guests in the area threatened by or experiencing homelessness. We are assisting 35 guests at a time based at a hotel, with the aim of supporting 100 guests by April 2021.

- Providing advice services, support packages, hospitality and care. The Robes Check In and Chat service will continue to develop, which allows our volunteers, guests and recent guests to connect and prevent loneliness.

- Running advice drop-in services at Holy Trinity Claphams Tuesday foodbank. As part of the service Robes volunteers provide 40-50 hot lunches and essential packages per week.

We are hoping to show that even though we are apart physically, we can still come together to help homeless people through this difficult time: and into a better life.

If you'd like to join us, please register here , set up a JustGiving page (by clicking the 'Start Fundraising' button on the right side of this page), and ask your friends to donate or join us from 6.30 pm on Friday 27 November for an inspirational evening!

Once you have registered we will send you more information on how it will work, teasers on our entertainment for the night, and dial-in details, in the coming weeks and months.
