Search and Rescue Assistance in Disasters: SARAID
SARAID is the only UK based NGO Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) to be classified by the United Nations. Completely funded by donations (we recieve no government support or grants) our unpaid team of volunteers are on standby 24/7, 365 days a year and are ready to deploy anywhere in the world at a moments notice.
In order to remain at a constant state of readiness our team undergo continual training to keep their skills and competences up to scratch. When on deployment we are entirely self sufficient and rely on the effectiveness of our equipment. It is therefore essential that our equipment is of a highest standard and maintained in good order.
It is often said in USAR that the hardest part of drilling the wall is getting the drill to the wall. We measure the time it takes for our team and their equipment must get to the disaster in hours. At the early stages of disaster response every hour counts. The cost of a deployment can reach up to £40,000 and cannot wait for funding to come in. In order to be effective we must have the funds ready and available to be spent to get our team in country and on the ground, making a difference to people's lives.
Please help us in these future endeavors by supporting us today.
Every penny raised goes towards funding our training, equipment, co-ordination, maintaining our UN Classification and ultimately funding the team to deploy overseas. Your donation will directly have an impact on our ability to help those in need.
As members we give our time freely, but the generosity of others never ceases to amaze us.
Thank you on behalf of the whole team and the people who we assist.
