Story
Catastrophic floods and landslides have torn through central Nepal.
Entire settlements have been swept away. Families have lost their homes, their livestock and their livelihoods. Roads and bridges have been destroyed, cutting villages off from food, clean drinking water and medicine. Electricity, water supplies, telephone and internet connections have been severed. Hospitals are struggling and schools have closed.
Our partners were mobilised within hours.
Sewa International Nepal has launched a relief and service operation. Volunteers are already working in Nuwakot — assessing needs alongside local communities, identifying the families in greatest danger, and finding routes to those cut off by collapsed roads and bridges. In Kathmandu, volunteers are collecting and dispatching food, drinking water, clothing, hygiene supplies and first-aid materials.
We were already there.
Sewa UK has worked in Nepal for years. Together with our Sewa partners we have already invested over £300,000 in skills development centres for children — a long-term commitment to Nepal's next generation.
That relationship matters now. Your donation does not pass through layers of intermediaries. It reaches trusted volunteers who live in these communities, who know which families need help first, and who will still be there long after the news cameras have gone.
Your gift funds Relief, Rehabilitation and Rebuild
RELIEF - the next few weeks: Food, drinking water, hygiene kits, blankets, clothing and first aid, delivered to families cut off by damaged roads and bridges.
REHABILITATION - the coming months: Restoring safe drinking water and sanitation, replacing lost household essentials, and helping families get children back into learning and access to healthcare.
REBUILD - the years ahead: Helping communities rebuild homes, classrooms and livelihoods; and strengthening the skills development work we have already invested in, so that recovery lasts.
Sewa International UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (charity no. 1135425). Funds raised through this appeal will be used for our flood response in Nepal — relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding — delivered through our partner Sewa International Nepal and its local volunteer network. Donations are not restricted to a particular activity and will be applied where the need is greatest. Should we raise more than is needed for this response, funds will be applied to similar humanitarian work at the trustees' discretion.
