We transport critically unwell children to specialist services for expert care within or outside London. The STRS serves the very densely populated area of Kent, Surrey and Sussex which is home to approximately 2 million children and young people.

STRS has 3 dedicated children’s intensive care ambulance each with specialist equipment to resuscitate, stabilise and transport these critically unwell children. Two teams operate 24 hours a day and all have expert training in caring and transporting critically unwell children.

Although the team is based at the Evelina London Children’s hospital, we work closely with the other Intensive Care Units in London to, transport patients within our region to the closest and most appropriate Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICUs).
