ALABARÉ is a leading UK charity committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Founded in 1991 by a Christian community, we are now a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness across the South West of England and Wales, by providing homes, restoring hearts, and empowering minds.

Story

By creating your JustGiving page, you are officially joining this landmark campaign — a movement committed to ensuring no veteran is left without a home, support, or hope.

Thank you for being part of something extraordinary.

Why We’re Sleeping Out

Veterans across the UK are experiencing a growing homelessness crisis:

2,270 veteran households in England are homeless or at risk

An estimated 7,500 veterans UK wide are homeless or in emergency accommodation

13,231 people slept rough in London last year, including many former service personnel

ALABARÉ has seen a 121% increase in veterans needing urgent support

This campaign exists because these numbers aren’t just statistics — they’re people who served our nation and deserve better.

The Change You’re Helping Drive

By sleeping out at St Paul’s Cathedral, you become an advocate for veterans whose voices are often unheard. Veterans like…

Ian: “It’s a dream come true.”

One year after sleeping rough, Ian now lives in a home he helped build as part of ALABARÉ’s Veteran SelfBuild Scheme — with new skills, fulltime employment, and a fresh start.

Every pound raised, goes towards supporting veterans like Ian – giving them hope to rebuild their lives.

What ALABARÉ Stands For

By joining this movement, you're supporting ALABARÉ’s mission to break the cycle of homelessness through:

Homes - Safe, secure accommodation where veterans can rebuild stability.

Hearts - Emotional, pastoral and spiritual care through chaplaincy and wellbeing support.

Minds - Training, skills and opportunities that empower people to move forward independently.

This is long-term transformation — not a temporary fix.
