Story

GPA (Granulomatosis with polyangiitis) is a very rare condition. There are often delays in the diagnosis because it is overlooked by clinicians, and its treatments have so far been simply borrowed from cancer. Donations to the GPA Trust are therefore proving particularly effective in furthering our understanding of the condition and of potential treatments.

Professor DCruz and his team have been running the Vasculitis Clinic within the Louise Coote Lupus Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals. Over the last twenty years, the team has accumulated vast clinical experience of GPA, which informs the team in prioritising our research efforts. Professor D’Cruz retired from clinical work in October 2025 although he will continue to be involved in clinical research.
