Imagine being told you will never wee normally again. Life with a urinary diversion can feel daunting. So it’s vital that people have somewhere to turn for reassurance and advice, from diagnosis to living life to the full again. The Urostomy Association can provide that support.

Story

Take a wee walk is one of the key events during our inaugural Urostomy Awareness month; running throughout October 2026. It's the first national campaign of its kind in the UK, and it's happening because, quite simply, it's needed.

As the UK's only national charity dedicated specifically to people facing or living with a urinary bypass, we hear it time and again: urostomates feel isolated after surgery, misunderstood by those around them, and invisible in public life.

Every year, around 2,500 people in the UK receive a urostomy - yet public awareness of what that actually means remains strikingly low. Urostomy Awareness Month is our answer to that silence: a full month of coordinated activity to break the stigma, connect people to peer support, celebrate our community's resilience, and raise vital funds for the services you rely on.

Thank you for being part of it.
