Take the Leap for The Sapper Charity
Imagine looking out of an open door of an aircraft, thirteen thousand feet above the Wiltshire countryside. Your heart is racing, your instructor gives you a reassuring smile, and moments later you're experiencing the unforgettable thrill of freefall before floating peacefully back to earth. The entire experienced will be filmed. It's an experience you'll remember for the rest of your life – and every second of it will help change someone else's.
On 23 September 2026, The Sapper Charity is proud to be partnering with the Royal Engineers Sports Parachute Association to offer this incredible fundraising challenge at the historic Army Parachute Association airfield at Netheravon Airfield Camp, one of the UK's oldest and most iconic military airfields. With its rich aviation heritage and outstanding facilities, Netheravon provides the perfect setting for your first skydive.
This isn't just any tandem skydive. You'll be jumping alongside serving Royal Engineers, with experienced military parachutists who are passionate about sharing their sport while raising vital funds for their regimental charity.
From the moment you arrive, the team will guide you through every stage of the day. You'll receive a full safety briefing, meet your tandem instructor, learn exactly what to expect, and have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Whether you're feeling excited, nervous or a mixture of both, you'll be supported every step of the way before taking to the skies for what promises to be an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
As well as the skydive itself, you'll meet members of the Royal Engineers Sports Skydive Team, enjoy lunch with fellow participants, and become part of a unique event that brings together adventure, teamwork and the spirit of the Royal Engineers.
Every participant commits to raising a minimum of £200 for The Sapper Charity, helping us continue our mission of supporting serving Royal Engineers, veterans, and their families.
The funds you raise make a real difference. They help provide welfare support, financial assistance during times of hardship, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, grants for those facing unexpected challenges, and practical help for families when they need it most. Whether supporting a serving Sapper recovering from injury, a veteran facing difficult circumstances, or a family navigating challenging times, your fundraising ensures that no member of the Royal Engineer family has to face life's toughest moments alone.
By taking on this challenge, you're not just ticking a skydive off your bucket list. You're standing alongside the Royal Engineers community, honouring those who serve and have served, and helping ensure that support is always there for them and their loved ones.
So, are you ready to take the leap?
Sign up today, challenge yourself, and help The Sapper Charity continue supporting the Royal Engineer family for generations to come.
