Rise Africa UK is a small charity that is making a significant difference to the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the Moshono community, Northern Tanzania, by sponsoring quality education and helping them to get the most out of it. We currently support the education of 80 children.

Story

We support girls living in and around the Moshono region in Tanzania. Rise Africa UK has sponsored a total of 48 girls and 35 boys since 2011 and as those girls grew up and started their menstruation, we came to understand that they were using old rags as pads, washing those rags and reusing them. They were getting infections and running out of clean underwear. They were hugely embarrassed and often off sick.

Our aim is to provide girls with pads throughout the year and provide all the children with new underwear once a year.

£12 per girl per year for sanitary products throughout the year and £7 per packet of 6 pieces of underwear per year.

A total of £18 per girl per year.

We are currently helping 48 girls, so we hope to raise £864 a year to cover this ongoing project.
