Story

Despite the challenges faced by British military veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, there is hope for recovery. While suicide rates continue to rise among the veteran community, it's important to remember that there are thousands of veterans and their families who struggle with mental health and addiction issues, despite not having physical injuries from the battlefield.

The Veteran Recovery College, delivered by the multi-award-winning mental health charity Anxious Minds, is here to support these veterans and their families. Unlike many other services, our support goes beyond just the veteran in crisis and extends to the entire family, including adults and children aged 14 and above. Since our launch in 2020, the Veteran Recovery College has provided non-judgmental professional support to over 380 families and counting. Our strong demand for services shows that we are reaching those who have been failed by the system and have fallen through the cracks.

We are proud to say that 97% of veterans and families are seen within two weeks of referral, making our support accessible when it's needed the most. Our efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we have been nationally recognised for our support to veteran families.

In fact, we have won Six National awards over the past two years. With the Veteran Recovery College, there is hope for veterans and their families to recover and lead fulfilling lives beyond their struggles.

At Anxious Minds, Veteran Recovery College we offer a wide range of services to support veterans and their families. Our services include counselling, outdoor therapy activities, addiction support, crisis intervention, information and advice, support for domestic abuse, and employability support.

Our approach is both individual and family-focused, recognising that issues affecting veterans and their families require holistic support to achieve impactful recovery. We understand the challenges that veterans face in accessing local support for themselves and their children. Therefore, our services are multi-faceted and tailored to meet individual needs. We are committed to supporting veterans and their families in their journey towards recovery.

With our comprehensive range of services, we aim to make a positive impact on their lives. Join us in our mission to help veterans and their families lead fulfilling lives beyond their struggles.
