SHINE make a huge difference to the experience of service users cared for in our hospital sites and community services across the North East and Cumbria. Donations can provide the support for the extra things that would not be possible from funding we receive from central government alone.

Story

On June 15th, 4 members of CNTW's Early Intervention in Psychosis and At-Risk Mental Health State service and 11 service users will be embarking on a voyage from Whitehaven to Glasgow. This form of adventure therapy can have a really positive life changing impact, particularly for service users but also for staff.

The biggest thing that I learnt, that I took away from the ship is... I don't have to be isolated. It's so big inside your head, this looming thing of psychosis, that you forget that to other people it's fine, you're allowed to live your story and you're allowed to own it. I know that I don't have to be ashamed of myself anymore," said Shawn, a service user who took part in the voyage in 2024.

The project has been made possible with funding from the SHINE fund, part of CNTW charity, which supports the wellbeing of patients and carers in CNTW's services.

We are raising funds to help the charity continue to fund similar life changing projects in the future. Each and every donation is greatly appreciated.
