Story

We are the Women's Equality Network (WEN) Wales. Our vision is a Wales free from gender discrimination.

Please join us in celebrating our 10th birthday by supporting our challenge to raise vital funds to ensure we can continue to make an impact for the next 10 years.

Brave members of the Women's Equality Network Wales community celebrated 10 years of WEN by jumping 10,000 feet from an aeroplane on 30th April 2022! We are trying to raise £10,000 so we can continue to meet the challenges women in Wales are facing. WEN connects, campaigns and champions women to deliver transformational change in Wales.

Megan, Jenny, and Justna were ready for the challenge - inspired by the amazing late Dilys Price OBE, WEN ambassador, friend and one of our 100 Welsh Women who completed 1139 jumps for charity and remains the oldest jumper in the Guinness Book of Records.

We'd also like to say a HUGE thank you to the Year 9 pupils at Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed who challenged themselves to connect, campaign and champion gender equality by presenting to the First Give Programme and winning £1000 for the #WENatTen campaign.

Other fundraising activities include a cold water swim and a 10k steps challenge & running the Cardiff Half Marathon with Team WEN and friends!

How about getting involved and raising money with your own challenge? Find out more here: https://wenwales.org.uk/support-us.

Dr Justna Muhith says:

"Women's equality and ethnic equity are two topics I live and breath every day. WEN helps to bring equality in both areas, it helps raise the issues that impact everyday people in society, supports legislative change, introduces women to public life and empowers them to have a voice and use it to remove barriers today and for the coming generations selflessly.

WEN gives you wings to fly.. so now Im going to fly/Skydive to raise funds so that WEN can continue to help empower, encourage and be the backbone for many many more girls in the coming years!"

Megan Evans says:

"I'm taking on this challenge for WEN at Ten because I believe the work we do for a Wales free from gender discrimination is vital."

Jenny Ramsay says:

"Hi, I'm Jenny, one of WEN's newest trustees and I'm really excited about taking part in the skydive as part of our 10-year anniversary fundraising challenge! The Women's Equality Network is an extraordinary organisation so it made sense to do something extraordinary!"

WEN was established 10 years ago, seeking to place gender equality and women's rights at the heart of decision making in Wales, so women's voices are heard on the issues that affect them most.

WEN is proud to be taking positive and decisive action to give women a stronger voice and influence the things that are important to them. We connect, campaign and champion on behalf of all women. Find out more on our website: https://wenwales.org.uk/
