Story
This May, we’re coming together as a community - putting paws on the ground to keep our whirlybirds in the sky.
Whirlybird Walkies is more than a walking challenge. It’s a chance for dog lovers, families, friends, neighbours and colleagues to unite for a shared purpose: raising vital funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Walk 30, 60, 90 miles - or choose your own personalised goal. Take part with your dog, borrow a furry companion, join a walking group, take your kids and their favourite stuffed animals for a stroll, or go solo knowing you’re part of something bigger.
Together, we’re helping to fund a service that costs £9.6 million each year to operate - that’s £25,969 every day. Last May alone, crews responded to 168 call-outs, and as the days get longer, demand only increases.
When our helicopters lift off, it represents the kindness and generosity of people like you. Every step taken in May helps ensure that when someone in our community needs urgent, lifesaving care, help is already on the way.
So gather your pack, set your goal, and go walkies with purpose.
