Story
On the 22nd August 2026, we will be facing the world's fastest zip wire to raise vital funds for Staffordshire Sight Loss Association! Velocity at Zip World is a head-first 1-mile zip wire over Penrhyn Quarry in North Wales, reaching speeds of up to and over 100 miles per hour!
Over 17,000 people are living with sight loss in North Staffordshire, and for so many, SSLA is a lifeline.
We provide support, friendship, independence, advice, practical help, and hope to people who are blind and partially sighted, and to their families too. For many, it is the difference between feeling isolated and feeling connected, between struggling alone and having somewhere to turn.
We are the only local sight loss-specific charity in North Staffordshire. Earlier this year, we faced the possibility of closure due to funding difficulties, and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us. A massive thank you to everyone taking on this daring challenge and to everyone who has donated and shared.
Every donation will make a difference to people's lives by helping us to provide:
-Practical advice and emotional support
-Social groups and community connections
-Help with independent living
-Access to specialist information and guidance
-A trusted place for people and families to turn in difficult times
