Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a very important season for Muslims worldwide. It is a time for fasting, prayer, charity, and compassion. Ramadan encourages people to give both voluntary and obligatory charity to help those in need. Since 1984, the acts of charity and compassion have been at the heart of IR’s work. IR has always led in humanitarian work. One of its first major initiatives was the Ramadan Food Assistance Programme, which helped to establish IR as a well-known global organization.

Zakat ul-Fitr (also called Sadaqat-al-Fitr or Fitrana) is an obligatory donation in Islam, given before the Eid-al-Fitr prayer to help those in need during the holiday. Unlike annual Zakat, it usually involves giving a set amount of food or its value to those in need as an act of purifying the fast and support the less fortunate. Zakat al-Fitr practices can differ based on Islamic schools and local traditions.

In Ramadan 2024, your Zakat Ul-Fitr donations were distributed across 29 countries and provided 2.6 million meals to those in need worldwide. These countries included Palestine, Yemen, Bangladesh, Somalia and more.
