The Day Case Unit is a modern fully equipped area with 15 treatment chairs, the Ward Area has 22 inpatient beds for Haematology and Medical patients which do include Oncology patients, six of which are custom built isolation rooms where complex anti-cancer treatments are delivered.
The Haematology and Oncology Assessment Unit offers a 24-hour telephone helpline along with an in-hours face to face assessment service for those who need it, ensuring robust support at all points in our patients journey.
Dealing with a cancer diagnosis is a difficult and distressing time for both the patient and their loved ones. It is the main goal to make a difficult time more bearable by ensuring a strong focus on the well-being of patients, families, and carers.
Through the support of the generous donations from patients and their loved ones the department has purchased:
- Sky lights in patient areas to help bring a little of the outside indoors, as our patients can spend extended amounts of time in our care.
- Scalp cooling machines were purchased, which are proven to reduce the risk of hair loss and support the re-growth of hair following chemotherapy, offering an element of control to our patients.
- New chairs throughout the department that a pressure relieving and fully reclining for patient comfort, along with new chairs in both of our waiting areas.
- Most recently we have refurbished our relatives room, to create a serene area for people to use that feels less clinical than the ward and day unit areas.
By contributing to our campaign, you will help us purchase a vital pieces of equipment, refurbishments to areas of the ward and many more items.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant impact.
