Every 22 minutes, a child in the UK is bereaved of a parent. The death or serious illness of a family member can be devastating and bring many challenges into the life of a young person. The impact of bereavement can have a major impact on children’s home life, school and friendships. It may also affect their health, behaviour and ability to cope in school.
Jigsaw (South East) works throughout #Surrey and #Sussex providing grief support to children and young people who have experienced the death of a significant family member. The charity also supports families facing the devastating loss of a loved one through serious, life-threatening illness.
Our #FabulousFive Brighton Marathon runners will take on the 26.2 mile run on Sunday the 15th April 2018 raising essential funds that will be channelled directly into the support that we provide to local children and their families. Please donate!
Jigsaw (South East) runs six-week Grief Support Groups that take place in #Guildford, #Reigate and #EastGrinstead. The groups help families to communicate about the person that has died and provide them with coping strategies for managing their feelings and emotions so that they develop into resilient young adults. For children especially, it can be hugely beneficial to be with others who are in a similar situation as themselves.
