A new type of music festival that is part of Oxfam’s rich musical history.
Oxjam started 2006 with the aim of creating a network of music-loving people across the UK, all united by a shared goal – to raise money to fight poverty and suffering around the world.
It’s a community festival run by volunteers and made up of multi-venue festivals and gigs taking place across the UK throughout October. It’s all about supporting independent music venues and providing a platform for up and coming musical talent while raising money to fight poverty and inequality worldwide. Now that’s something we can all get behind.
Since 2006 we’ve gone on to host more than 60,000 musicians playing to an audience of 1.5 million people, and have helped break bands such as Everything Everything, Foals, Young Fathers and Drenge. We’ve also had backing from the likes of Metronomy, Annie Mac, Mr Jukes and Fatboy Slim.
