UNICEF works to build a better world for every child, every day. A world where every child has the chance to fulfil their potential and grow up healthy and safe. We work in 190 countries and territories around the world, reaching more children than any other humanitarian organisation.

Story

Up to 720,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar for Bangladesh.

Many children have walked for days, and are arriving sick, exhausted and in desperate need of water, food and shelter.

Many bring with them harrowing testimony of atrocities and are clearly traumatised by their experiences.

Many children are alone or have become separated from their family. Camps are overwhelmed.

Many thousands of children have no safe space or shelter from the monsoon rain.

A child is a child, no matter where they come from or where they are going. All children deserve a safe home and the security of being with loved ones.   The Rohingya refugees are spread across official refugee camps, makeshift settlements around the southern city of Cox’s Bazar, host communities and new encampments near to the border. While some of these places have humanitarian services, they are becoming overcrowded and people have to settle in new areas. Many of these new places are difficult to access, flooded and have no infrastructure.

Unicef is working together with the Bangladesh government to provide urgently needed supplies and services for every child. Unicef is providing life-saving food for malnourished children, as well as vaccinations against measles and rubella. Unicef is also providing the newly arrived refugees with safe drinking water, child friendly spaces and temporary schools for vulnerable children. These are safe havens for children to receive psychosocial care, learn and play.

Unicef is working day and night to meet the needs of Rohingya children in both Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Unicef is doing everything it can to deliver life-saving aid for Rohingya children and families in Bangladesh. Fundraise for Rohingya children today.
