Story
We are five members of Tudor Sailing Club that are competing in the 2018 great river race on the 8th September,
The Great River Race https://www.greatriverrace.co.uk/ is a 22 mile rowing marathon along the Thames between Millwall and Richmond. We are using the opportunity to raise money for the Portsmouth RNLI Lifeboat http://www.portsmouthlifeboat.co.uk/ which provides life saving cover for the eastern Solent and Langstone Harbour.
The rowing team aged between 14 and 74, consist of Ian DuCane (rowing skulls), Sandy Craig (rowing sweep) and John Elson (rowing stroke), Jay DuCane and Heather Owen are cox and passenger, with assistance of Graham DuCane who is driving the support vehicle.
We are rowing "Freedom", a Bursledon Gig built this year by Ian DuCane in preparation for the race. Our target is to beat the time we set last year of 2hrs 51mins and raise some money for a worthwhile cause.
We would really appreciate your support by making a donation (no matter how small) for this great charity as we attempt this marathon challenge.

Tudor Sailing Club - Rowing Team
6 years agoThank you from the Portsmouth RNLI! Thanks to your generosity Tudor Rowing this morning presented the Portsmouth RNLI Lifeboat with a cheque for £880. It was a beautiful day on Langstone Harbour but the lifeboat crew had already been busy having been called out at 4am this morning to pull a person out of the water off Portsmouth. After they met with us they headed off on a training exercise. It cost the RNLI nearly £15,000 / year / crew member to keep the this voluntary service running so your donation is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Tudor Sailing Club - Rowing Team
6 years agoHi thanks to everyone for your very generous support which has helped motivate Team Tudor today. After an early start (up at 4. 45) we started the race from Millwall docks at 10:15 and were pushed hard all the way by some very stiff opposition, and difficult conditions. In the end we came over the line in 6th position, got 2nd in the over 40s category, and think we took 3rd place in 4 oared category (subject to confirmation) which out 329 boats is not bad going! Thanks again!
