Story

So, I HATE running but absolutely love the outdoors - the physical and mental benefits that you get from spending time outside is invaluable. Many of you might remember P7 school camp at Dounans, getting covered in mud, climbing trees, trying scary new things you wouldn't normally get the opportunity to, the end of camp DISCO!! Am I right? I was a raging lesbian but didn't know it at the time, and being a tomboy meant I definitely didn't have a date for it. However! Fast forward 20 years, this wee scamp returned to Dounans - as an instructor and over the years has continued to work freelance with SOEC. I know, first hand, from both sides, how incredibly beneficial AND important P7 camp, and the experiences that come with it are. These opportunities, these types of experiences are becoming few and far between because we rely on funding. There is a high risk it will be taken away from future children, my wee nieces Holly, Eva & Orla.. Which is insane?!?! because the mental and physical benefits are equally as important as your standard education you learn in a classroom, and for me personally, it was more important. 🌳

That is why I'm choosing to put myself through misery, for the future dounans kids.

Any donations are muchly appreciated 🖤

Scottish Outdoor Education Centres provides valuable opportunities for young people to attend residential outdoor learning programmes that help to develop the attitudes and skills required for a happy and successful life. The money raised will go into a bursary fund that will support young people who would not be able to access SOEC programmes without additional financial support.
