Story

Half Marathon Training Update -

I have just spent the last few days working up at Dounans, Scottish Outdoor Education Centre, the charity in which I am raising funds for by running a half marathon in 7 1/2 weeks!

I have been freelancing with them for several years now and have experienced first hand, how incredibly important spending time in nature is for young people. One of the questions I ask on the last night round the campfire- "are we missing technology yet?" The answer I receive is always a no! "I forgot I even had a phone" "I have had more energy without it" "I've had more fun with my peers" and a popular one is "I've tried things I never thought I would "

They climb trees! Canoe on gorgeous lochs and even jump in the water! They fire arrows from a bow! They learn to adapt, become more resilient and get to experience exciting and scary new challenges!

Outdoor education is CRUCIAL!! for young people and spending more time outdoors is unbelievably important for all of us, no matter our age!

Please help me support such a special and rare charity - Scottish Outdoor Education

There is a high risk it will be taken away from future children, my wee nieces Holly, Eva and Orla.. Which is insane?!?! because the mental and physical benefits are equally as important as your standard education you learn in a classroom, and for me personally, it was more important. 🌳

That is why I'm choosing to put myself through misery, for the future dounans kids.

Any donations are muchly appreciated 🖤

Scottish Outdoor Education Centres provides valuable opportunities for young people to attend residential outdoor learning programmes that help to develop the attitudes and skills required for a happy and successful life. The money raised will go into a bursary fund that will support young people who would not be able to access SOEC programmes without additional financial support. You can find out more about SOEC and what they do here: https://www.soec.org.uk/about-us/
