Many of my friends know some individual or family who has had a family member in Hospice care. They may have had someone in hospice themselves. The care that family member received, the respite the care offered the family, & the peaceful passing surrounded by loved ones -- it is what each of us would want for our loved ones as they die. Hospice of the Chesapeake for 40 years has been serving the Anne Arundel & Prince George's County. Over 3,000 patients a year; approx. 500 patients a day; some are even infants, have received professional & tender care. With medicare & medicaid offering less & less in reimbursable services, services like bereavement counseling, room & board for inpatient care, spiritual counsel, custodial care and more fall to the family to cover.
