Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the 5th July we are off to walk 55 miles in 4 daysWe are trying to raise money to help support the wonderful Dorothy House Hospice. The team there provided the most amazing home care for my sister, and then cared for her in the hospice when the time came.
The care and support was also extended to us, Naomi's family and friends. We even had the family dog with us when we stayed there.
I remember speaking to my sister when she was staying there for some respite care, and whilst we were on the phone a mother duck and her ducklings walked through my sisters room to the garden. Where else could that happen?
Six months before Naomi died, she put on a charity event 'The Primrose Ball' (no walking for my sister!) and raised £10,600 in one evening for Dorothy House.
Naomi always set the bar high, and I have no doubt we won't reach anywhere near the amount that she raised…….but, we will have a go.
Eight of us are walking 55 miles along Hadrian's Wall over 4 days to try and raise money for Dorothy House. After getting to know Dorothy House and some of the team, I now know first hand the sterling care, support and friendship they provide.
You don't realise how much a hospice is needed until you are in that situation.
