Story
On 22nd April 2017, three employees of Wallem Group will attempt to tackle the Asian Challenge, by scaling Mount Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina. In this incredible trekking challenge, we three relatively inexperienced hikers will be ascending 3143 meters to the summit of the last major peak on the eastern end of the Himalayan
range, all in the name of The Sailor's Society.
The Sailors’ Society helps seafarers and their families with welfare and practical support, visiting ships in ports and talking with seafarers away from home for extended periods of time. They facilitate contact with loved ones as well as making medical treatment accessible whenever and wherever required: https://www.sailors-society.org/
We have committed to raising 2000 USD each, which will go towards improving rapid response services, providing frontline care to traumatised seafarers after piracy attacks, natural disasters and other
crises at sea.
Meet the team:
Intern at Wallem Group HQ, Robbie Outram will be leading the team as captain, whilst also flying the flag for the Hong Kong office.
Rod Steele, Head of Wallem IT and Singapore office
representative will be accompanying him, the two having gained a thirst for charity hikes after their recent completion of the Sailor’s Society Hong Kong Trek in November 2016.
Finally, Yogesh Pasrija, Manager of Marine HR in Wallem’s Mumbai office rounds off the team, and completes a line-up of different ages, cultures and abilities.
We make up the ‘Wallem Wayfarers’ - because we are ground based Wallem people as opposed to Wallem Seafarers, for whom we are raising money by walking/wayfaring.
…so how can you help? Sponsor us! We appreciate any donation no matter how small, and it is all going to a fantastic cause. Many thanks!
