Alicia Walks the World - UK to Cox's Bazar

Walk the World · 19 April 2021
The South East Community Fundraising team have taken on the challenge to virtually walk the distance from the UK to Cox's Bazar (over 6,000 miles!). The funds we raise from this challenge will help children in Cox's Bazar and around the world, learn grow and become who they want to be.
Cox's Bazar - One million Rohingya refugees, half of whom are children have been cramped together in these camps since 2017, after they were forced to flee their homes in Myanmar to escape horrific violence. Now they face yet another threat to their lives. Save the Children's response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Cox's Bazar is focused on community based care and information, a COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre and continuing our existing life saving health services.
The Rohingya refugees live in densely packed camps - the largest refugee settlement in the world - where social distancing and self isolation are virtually impossible. Many refugees live in makeshift shelters made of bamboo and tarpaulin. Even simple hygiene practices such as hand washing, are difficult because clean water is severely limited.
Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In the UK and around the world, we make sure children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can become who they want to be.
