We are a group of intrepid Chipstead friends, who take on a challenge each year to push ourselves out of our comfort zones (and Chipstead!).

This year we have decided to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall to raise money for The Anna Lewis Brighter Future Fund which we first supported two years ago when we took on the epic Three Peaks Challenge.

The walk will take place in September 2015 and training is well under way.  The Pilgrims are all completely committed to the challenge and to raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital, and specifically Anna's Brighter Future Fund.  An excellent cause:

On 1st April 2012 Jess and David Lewis, local parents, sadly lost their beautiful 14 month old daughter Anna to a rare and incurable disease. This is Anna's story.....

Anna was a healthy baby when she was struck down by a mystery illness on 19 January 2012,aged 11 months. She was taken into intensive care following seizures and eight weeks later at Great Ormond Street Hospital, following numerous intrusive tests, was diagnosed with Alpers' Disease, a rare Mitochondrial disease for which there is no treatment and no cure (see
www.healthline.com/galecontent/alpers-disease for more information). She only lived for another two weeks after diagnosis.

In Anna's memory her parents set up The Anna Lewis Brighter Future Fund at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity in May 2012 to raise money for the Mitochondrial Research Group and had an initial target to raise £85,000 for essential diagnostic equipment.  That target was met in 12 months and in November 2013 a new target of £250,000 was announced.  By Summer 2015 Anna's Fund had
raised £137,000!

The Chevening Pilgrims have supported Anna's Fund tirelessly since 2013 when they first took  on the Three Peaks Challenge and this year
are aiming to raise £20,000 by taking on Hadrian's Wall!  You can read more about Anna's story at

Thank you!
