How far will you go to help find a cure for cancer · 1 May 2021 to 31 May 2021 ·

Based at Nottingham Trent University, the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre houses a team of world-class scientists who work closely with leading clinicians at local hospitals.

Story

Lilah (my 8 year old daughter) and I are seeing 'How far we will go to help find a cure for cancer'. For the month of May, we have set ourselves the challenge of cycling a combined total of 100 miles to raise money for our fantastic Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University.

In 2012 my mum (Nanny Newmarket) was diagnosed with breast Cancer. I was pregnant with Lilah at the time and I worried she would never get to meet her granddaughter. My mum is only here today because of cancer research. With 1 in 2 people in the UK diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, there is more we need to do.

NTU’s Cancer Research Centre focuses on immunotherapy – using the body’s own immune system to fight cancer, without the need for chemotherapy. It’s the next frontier in cancer research, but undertaking this research is expensive and COVID-19 has severely impacted the amount of research funding available.

Please sponsor Lilah and I and help us smash our fundraising goal. Please give what you can to help find a cure for cancer.
