Story

This is in memory of my friend Pete, some of you may know some of you may not, but at a difficult time in my life, when mum couldn’t bare it anymore (I don’t blame her) and I didn’t really have anywhere else to turn, Pete believed in me and moved me up to the midlands, along the way he showed me what’s possible in this life no matter how bad things may seem, it can always be turned around because ‘We Live In A, Can Do World’. We had many of road trips to Spain and planes around the world, I’ll be forever grateful for those times and honoured to call him my friend. So now it’s my turn to try and give something back.

For those that don’t know, we tragically and suddenly lost Pete in October 2020 to sudden cardiac arrest. This was shortly following a diagnosis of a type of heart muscle disease (cardiomyopathy) that makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body.

1in 250 people have a type of cardiomyopathy. That's approximately 266,000 people in the UK living with the condition which often runs in families. It is the leading cause of sudden death in the under 35’s and is very likely inherited through generations. Cardiomyopathy is not yet curable but can be treated successfully in some cases.

That’s why Cardiomyopathy UK works to improve the lives of people affected by a heart muscle disease, and their vision is a world where everyone affected should live a long and fulfilling life. In the pursuit of this Cardiomyopathy UK:

•    Raise’s awareness of the condition so that more people know the signs and symptoms and can be diagnosed early

•    Campaign’s to improve access to quality treatment that meets the needs of people with cardiomyopathy

•    Promote’s clinical research to advance the development of new treatments and provide hope for the future

•    Support’s people affected by cardiomyopathy, every step of the way, so that nobody must face cardiomyopathy alone

Everyone in this team is painfully aware of the devastating impact this
condition can have on people with cardiomyopathy and their families. So we've challenged ourselves to raise as much as we can by running our first ever marathon as a team in London on 2nd October 2022. Why? So that Cardiomyopathy UK can continue to help families affected by this disease. If you’d like to find out more about the ways in which Cardiomyopathy UK can help families and friends like ours, you can visit

Weof course cannot acheive our ambitious goal without your support, and any dontation no matter the size would be hugely appreciated.
