Story
Having recently trained for my new role with Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind I have been exposed to the amazing, life changing work they do within our community. I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity to be involved in such a meaningful and important cause and this fundraiser is just the tip of the iceberg. I want to throw myself in head first and look after my own wellbeing while encouraging others to do the same.
Throughout January I will be running/walking a total of 40 miles (1 mile for each year Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind have been running). It's about realistic goals and this for me is very achievable and I do hope to exceed this target.
So many people have already made a difference to their own wellbeing through signing up and getting active in January. Take the next step and turn winter blues into RED January! Comments from RED participants: "If depression is a high pressure tank, running is the sudden switch of the pressure-release valve"."Running and exercisings effect on me though has been more profound than just kick-starting a good year"."I thought R.E.D would be a nice challenge, but I didnt expect to meet great people through the campaign"."I remember thinking at the time that telling an acutely depressed teenager to run was like telling someone with a broken leg to do the hopscotch"."The R.E.D group were honest, and they accepted people who all did variants of the challenge, some were running long distances and others ran to the shop down the street and back. Some had been running for years, and many, like me, were running regularly for the first time in years, if not for the first time ever".
