Story
Eeeepppp!!! For those who know me well will know how much I love all things dance, glitz and glamour so when the opportunity to take part in Rowans Does Strictly came along, I knew I had to get involved!
You’ll also probably know how much this amazing Charity means to me. The care the Hospice at Home team gave to my Dad in his last days was incredible, the team were kind and caring and on the end of the phone whenever we needed them, morning or night.
More recently I saw the wonderful care the staff and volunteers on the In-patient Unit give to the patients when my lovely sister in law Elaine was patient. Kindness, care and compassion was at the heart of all they did.
The care has also extended to many members of family in our bereavement and grief, they really do shine a light in our darkest days.
Rowans Hospice Charity provides palliative and end-of-life care to the highest quality for those living with a life-limiting illness in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. Our highly trained teams help to improve the quality of life for patients by easing physical symptoms, as well as offering psychological, spiritual and social support to patients, and their family and friends. The Charitys care services are provided around the clock, either within our In-patient unit or within the home setting, as well as offering services for day visitors in our Living Well Centre. Whilst our care is provided free of charge, we are in fact a Charity and 90% of our income is generated by gifts in Wills, voluntary giving, fundraising events, and our Retail shops. It is thanks to the generous donations and fundraising from our supporters that we can continue to provide much-needed support to the community and make a difference to so many lives.
