Story
If you know me, you'll know that I run. I run slowly, and I complain about running because I am basically lazy, and would prefer to eat cake. I have managed to increase my running distance to about 5 miles without collapsing in a sweaty heap. So I thought it would be a 'good' idea to enter the Round Sheffield Run, a hilly 24.5km route in the June sunshine. That's over 15 miles. Hmmmm.
I started working at Grimm & Co almost two years ago, and I have seen the impact we have, and the changes we are making to children and young people's lives. That's why I want to be a part of helping to raise money for the charity. By the way, if you haven't been, you need to!
Grimm & Co is a fantastical apothecary catering to all sorts of magical beings since 1148 (just before lunchtime), but there is something special about this shop. Go through a secret door, and you can enter an amazing world in which your creativity and imagination can run riot. We offer fun, exciting, free literacy workshops to children and young people aged 7-18 years. We aim to champion the writer in every child, engaging and inspiring the young people of Rotherham, and changing the world, one story at a time.
Next year, we are planning a BIG festival to showcase the work of the children. This year, we took over the Showroom cinema to show 6 films written by children and made into professional films, enabling the children to see themselves as true writers. It shows them a possible future that they might not have imagined for themselves.
