In memory of Maisie Durant
Remember Maisie
Campaign by Anaphylaxis UK (RCN 1085527)
We're collectively raising money to remember Maisie Durant, a wonderful 21 year old woman who passed away following anaphylactic shock, and to fund an educational tool for people with allergies.

Story

Maisie ate a "health bar" containing peanuts. While her nut allergy was well-controlled by tablets, she went into anaphylactic shock and we sadly lost our wonderful young daughter on 19 January 2015 at the age of 21 years old. Teresa and I would like to thank you for all of your support since that day.

We have organised a 25km walk in Maisie's memory on 8 April 2017 on the Majorcan island of Magaluf, where she worked in the summers and sold more vodka shots than anyone (by a wide margin). At sunset, we'll raise a glass in her memory alongside 55 members of her family and friends.

We thought this would be the right time to show how your donations to the Anaphylaxis Campaign have been and will be spent, and I hope this will be enough to tempt you to donate just a little more to our cause. I can assure you that, when I meet folk who are in danger from their allergies, many have not assembled the full protection available to them.

So far, money has been used to increase awareness to those at risk, as well as those who care for them. Alongside £70k raised in my previous page, the funds here will transfer through to the Anaphylaxis Campaign's campaign page here:

www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/anaphylaxis/remember-maisie

The overall campaign ring-fences your donations for the online tool below, which is being designed to prepare patients for a conversation with their allergy specialist or GP to ensure medical professionals develop a complete medical history. By using the information provided in this pathway, someone similar to Maisie may become far more aware of their risk of anaphylaxis.

The tool can be found here: www.aimallergy.co.uk.

Miles for Maisie will help to drive the awareness behind the tool, not least with the use of social media. For this 25km walk through Magaluf, we will use #MilesForMaisie to tell the story before, during and after the event. #RememberMaisie will also be used for the overall campaign effort behind the online tool, collecting the variety of fundraising stories currently going on and, we hope, in future.

Many thanks and love for all of your support,

Jon, Teresa, Lillie and Maisie.
