Raising money for the Watch Group for practical conservation and education. Members of the group work on towards the goals of their WG Islands Plan; helping wildlife and our natural environment, reducing waste & explore healthy alternatives.

Story

My name is Samuel Randhawa, and I am 12 years old.  I have lived in the Falklands for more than 5 years.

I have been in the Watch Group, which is a youth group part of Falklands Conservation, since I was about 8 years old and I have done many fun activities in the time I have been here, such as: beach cleans; tussac planting, habitat restoration, camping trips, field trips around the Islands, Day trips and meetings with the MLAs to discuss about matters to do with the environment.

But sadly, on June 25th, my family and I are moving to a different country. To pay back for all my years in this organisation, I decided to fundraise some money in the form of cycling from the welcome to Stanley sign all the way to the lighthouse and back which, in total, is about 23.5 km, so that others can have a fun experience, just as I did, and continue to care about the beautiful environment around them.

To this note, I would like to ask if you would be interested in sponsoring me in my fundraiser, which, if weather permits, will take place on Saturday the 5th of June. If the weather isn’t good enough, I will try to do it on the 6th of June. [NOTE: given that the roads have been icy over the past 10 days, I will be swimming this distance, equivalent to 900 pool lengths (23.5 km)]

I hope you will support me in my swim,

Yours sincerely,

Samuel Randhawa
