Walk The World
Campaign by Save the Children (RCN England and Wales (213890) Scotland (SC039570))
2020 was a devastating year for children all over the world. The coronavirus pandemic affected the lives of everyone, but it is children who will face a future of uncertainty. Walk the World for Save the Children and change their future for good.

Story

Alongside my wonderful team, the South East Community Fundraising team, I will be walking the distance from the UK to Cox's Bazar during the coming weeks. While we won't be able to actually walk to Bangladesh, we will still be covering each and every one of the 6,046miles of the journey.

Why? Because I believe that children everywhere deserve a chance to grow up happy and healthy so that they can go on to change the future. Please sponsor my fantastic colleagues and me as we walk until our feet are sore - every donation, no matter what size, makes such a real difference for children around the world - Thank you!

The situation for children in Cox's Bazar

One million Rohingya refugees, half of whom are children, have been cramped together in the camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh since 2017, after they were forced to flee their homes in Myanmar to escape horrific violence.

The Rohingya refugees live in densely packed camps – the largest refugee settlement in the world – where social distancing and self-isolation are virtually impossible. Many refugees live in makeshift shelters made of bamboo and tarpaulin. Even simple hygiene practices, such as regular hand washing, are difficult because clean water is severely limited. Now, they face yet another threat to their lives: the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Save the Children’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Cox’s Bazar is focused on community-based care and information, a COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre has been set up in 2020 and we're continuing our existing life-saving health services for the population in the camp.

The charity

Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In the UK and around the world, we make sure children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can become who they want to be.
