Who is Hamta Rostami?
Hamta is a sweet little girl born with SMA Type I (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) in Iran. Hamta is a very strong child and has been fighting for her life since her early days. To help her win this fight, she needs a type of medication to help her win this battle. Unfortunately, the only treatment option currently available to her is the world's most expensive drug, known as Zolgensma, which costs a staggering $ 2.3 million. Importantly, the drug is only effective up to two years of age, meaning Hamta only has a couple of months left to receive it to get maximum benefit. Please donate now, and save an innocent young child from living an insufferable life. We thank you in advance.
What's the organiser's story?
After a long period of depression, in August this year, my wonderful doctor from Iran (surprisingly, a gynaecologist not a counsellor) helped me find my feet and add exercise to my life. I went from not being able to do more than 10-15 min walks in my first days to doing between 15-20K daily at the moment, and this is something I’d never imagined I’d be able to do in such a short time. Now I have decided to turn my new hobby into something which can help other people in my home country, and am doing my first campaign in the loving memory of the sister my doctor lost in July and one of my inspiring former university lecturers (both beautiful souls we lost to Covid-19 in July 2021).
Walking is a symbol for me; the symbol of taking steps and reaching a certain target, and we’re doing it internationally because we believe every life on this planet matters and we are all one.
How can I help?
There are many ways to help:
