Who is Hamta?

Hamta is a young child suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1. This is a genetic condition whereby the patient suffers from muscular dysfunction and problems with movement. Type 1 is the most severe form of the condition meaning the patient is unable to perform simple functions including sitting and breathing. It is diagnosed in children under the age of 6 months.

The only treatment option currently available is the world's most expensive drug, known as Zolgensma, which costs a staggering $ 2.3 million. Importantly, the drug is only effective up to two years of age, meaning Hamta only has 6 months left to receive it to achieve effective results.

Please donate now and save an innocent young child from living an insufferable life. We thank you in advance.

The Organiser's Story:

After a long period of depression, in August this year, my wonderful doctor from Iran (surprisingly, a gynaecologist not a counsellor) helped me find my feet and add exercise to my life. I went from not being able to do more than 10-15 min walks in my first days to doing between 15-20K daily at the moment, and this is something I’d never imagined I’d be able to do in such a short time. Now I have decided to turn my new hobby into something which can help other people in my home country, and am doing my first campaign in the loving memory of the sister my doctor lost in July and one of my inspiring former university lecturers (both beautiful souls we lost to Covid-19 in July 2021).
