Story
Hi all,
This year, I have decided to organise a general sponsored Lent in support of the charity Help for Heroes – the charity that supports our injured servicemen and women (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/). What these people have given up for us by far outweighs the trivialities giving up a tiny selection of things for Lent, so I think it more than appropriate that the donations go to this charity.
Initially, I was planning to do this by myself, but have since come to realise that many of you may wish to join me in giving things up for Lent and raising money for Help for Heroes in the process. I would be delighted for you to join me in this effort to support this cause – be it by joining in with me or donating money – no matter how big or small your contribution is.
So, what am I giving up?
I am getting fully behind this campaign and will be giving the following up for Lent:
Social networking websites
Alcohol
Caffeine
Meat
Sweets
Chocolate
Ice Cream
Crisps/Biscuits/Cakes, etc
Fizzy Drinks
It certainly won’t be the easiest of things to do, but I hope you’ll agree with me that this is a worthy cause.

How can you donate?
If you’d like to donate, I have set up the following Just Giving page: http://www.justgiving.com/h4hlent
Interested in taking part in the Lent challenge? Here are a few common questions:
How long is Lent?
Lent starts on the 17th February and finishes April 3rd. In total, it is 45 days.
What can you give up?
Give up whatever it is you think will be a challenge: do you fret over your Facebook account? Then why not give it up!? Do you like the odd pint? Try going without for Lent. You can decide for yourself what to give up, and encourage others to support you in your efforts.
How do we raise money?
Please use the Just Giving page for donations. Share this amongst your friends and family by sending them the link. There is also a Facebook group I have created in hopes of getting a bit more coverage of this: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=325638286320 (Don’t worry; the irony is not lost on me!)
