Orpington Hikers fundraiser for Akshaya Patra UK · 3 April 2025

Shrijna, a talented Year 8 Kabaddi player, and her brother Naveen rely on school meals from Akshaya Patra. For many children in Uttarakhand, school meals mean nourishment and education. Just £15 feeds a child for a year—help us support 163 kids!

Story

We, a dedicated team of seven trekkers from Orpington, are embarking on an extraordinary journey to summit Mera Peak in Nepal (6,476m/21,247 ft) from April 3 to April 21, 2025. This trek is not just a test of our endurance and resilience; it symbolizes the daily struggles faced by millions of children in India who pursue education amidst hunger and hardship.

In this spirit of empathy and action, we are raising funds to support The Akshaya Patra Foundation's vital mission: "Sponsor a school in India: Food for Education." Through its mid-day meal programme, Akshaya Patra works tirelessly to eliminate classroom hunger. For these children, every nutritious meal is a stepping stone toward their dreams, just as every step we take on our trek brings us closer to our summit.

We invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact. Your generous donation will not only fuel our journey but will also nourish the aspirations of countless children striving for a brighter future. Our target is £500, and with your support, we can help ensure that no child has to learn on an empty stomach. Together, let’s make a difference that echoes far beyond the mountains we climb.
