Story
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have bought a bus for AAct4Africa which will be shipped out to Uganda in April!
I cannot begin to explain the impact it will have on the children and vulnerable teenage mums in Mayuge district. With poor roads, no public transport and no street lighting, road accidents are one of the biggest causes of death in Uganda. Buying a minibus for the children and young mums means that they can get to our education centre in Mayuge safely. It means they can access the best schooling, counselling and vocational skills training that Uganda has to offer. It means they can access a route out of poverty and build better lives!
Sending big love to all of the AAct4Africa Ugandan team - Kigongo Patrick I know that you have needed a new bus for a couple of years and Waiswa Moses has kept the old bus going for so much longer than we could have possibly hoped, but a new one is on it's way!
Congratulations to all of the fundraising team Elaine Sagar, Fi Jones, Hayfa Saad, Kate Goodman, Emma Guy who have been diligently helping to raise money and hold raffles, International Women’s day events, cajoling friends and donating their own hard earnt cash.
I am pleased to say that we have smashed our £15,000 target, raising £15,778.25 (including gift aid). 😉🙃😁
A big thanks to every single one of you who made a donation towards this essential cause.
The remaining funds will be used to buy training materials for Act4Africa’s vocational skills programmes, helping young mums to learn a trade (hairdressing, jewellery and dress making) so that they can earn a living and provide for their families.
We will also use the surplus to buy early learning toys (books, jigsaws, crayons and educational toys) for the 3 – 6 year olds who attend Kathy’s Centre. It’s not too late to donate if you would like to help us to re-stock our educational toys and skills cupboards to enhance the learning of our mums and children!
