Story
I am running 'The Lap' on Saturday 11th May to raise funds for Cartmel Primary School's grounds project, along with others from the school: Tom Holman (Governor), Helen Bennett (Parent) and Emma Benson (Alumni).
The project will reimagine the outdoor areas, creating more green spaces for learning and play with a strong emphasis on the environment, sustainability and supporting well-being which will be fabulous.
The Lap is 47 mile Ultra Marathon around Windermere - I've run a marathon before (26.2 miles) on the road before which was hard enough - but this is a huge new challenge. Not only is it almost twice as far but I need to run on muddy trails, with tricky descents - not to mention 2000m of elevation to navigate.
Its going to be very tough but it will be worth it to support the project. I would be thrilled if you could sponsor me - it will massively help me get to the finish when I want to give up! There is a time limit of 24 hours....
I've been training in all weathers for months and it is never clear if you will get to start line, let alone the finish line. I'm confident enough now that I should at least make the start!
We are all tracked - so whilst you are enjoying your Saturday you can always check in on progress. We start at 6am! I'll share the tracking information once I have my race number.
Thank you
