I am raising money for a great local charity which does amazing work helping some of the most vulnerable people in our society live a respectable life.

In my day job as an interpreter I often help refugees and asylum seekers access essential services such as healthcare or council support. Whilst I already had empathy for these people before this work, hearing their experiences first hand and seeing the challenges they face on a day to day basis has opened my eyes to their strength and resilience, as well as their warmth and compassion in the face of adversity. Refugees and asylum seekers are deserving of dignity and opportunity as much as anyone who happened to be born here, and this is why I am proud to be raising money for a great cause which has such a positive impact on the daily lives of many of our neighbours in Nottingham.

My current work as an interpreter would not have been possible without the free Community Interpreting training course I completed last August with Voices in Refuge, a partner of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum. For this I am extremely grateful and would love to repay the favour by running the Robin Hood Half Marathon for this charity.
