Why This Run Matters

The Robin Hood Half is one of our favourite days of the year. While it's also Nottingham's favourite race, it’s a day when Nottingham comes together to show what welcome and community really looks like, and we love it!

Last year, thanks to the kindness and determination of our supporters, we raised over £6,000 to help refugees and people seeking asylum find safety, support and community here in Nottingham and Notts.

But, now more than ever, we know this run represents more than fundraising. It’s about standing alongside people who’ve had to leave everything behind, and showing them that Nottingham is a place where they are welcomed, they belong and can rebuild their lives.

Celebrating Amde & Our Refugee Runners

One of the most special parts of last year’s event was seeing our volunteers from the refugee community running as part of the Nottingham Refugee Forum team. Giving them the chance to run was the most important thing and shared that youa message that "you belong here"!

A huge shout‑out goes to Amde, one of our volunteer runners, who finished 15th out of more than 9,000 runners with an incredible time of 1:14:23! His achievement inspired all of us and showed the strength, resilience and talent refugees bring to our city.

We can’t wait to see Amde and our refugee volunteer runners back on the start line this year.

Our Refugee Volunteer Runners

This year, a small (but mighty) team of refugee volunteers are taking on the Robin Hood Half. They give their time, energy and skills to Nottingham Refugee Forum throughout the year, and now they’re running to support the work that supports them and so many others. Their run is so inspiring, and every donation to this campaign backs their effort and helps us keep our doors open.
