London Halloween Walk 2024 · 26 October 2024 ·

It would have been Kai's 8th Birthday this year. He loved Halloween last year, dressing up as Clark Kent, going door to door and having people give him bells and toys and sensory things. So we're walking the Halloween Walk this year. For him.

Story

It would have been Kai's 8th Birthday this year. He loved Halloween last year, dressing up at Clark Kent, going door to door and having people give him bells and toys and sensory things.

So several of us are walking the Halloween Walk this year. For him. Because he was beautiful and deserved more. But also for me. Because as his Mama, I miss him so terribly. It's been a horrific two months without him, and this... this is just so very heartbreaking (I miss him I miss him I miss him).

We're raising funds for the Mikaere Foundation, because they fund research into Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH) - a rare and terminal metabolic disorder. It's the disorder Kai had, and died from. If there had been more funding, perhaps he wouldn't have died (and I genuinely can't bear the idea that others might feel this, when their children die, I can't. We have to DO something)
