We don’t show it, but we worry daily about the reality that Mason will die because of his condition (NKH), unfortunately, this is a reality that other parents have already gone through with their beautiful children. Recently one of the most amazing little boys with NKH who we recently met died. It’s heart-wrenching and as a community, we try to support each other and keep moving. I am in awe of Kai’s family. They created a charity which helps fund research to develop a cure for kids with NKH for hopefully the very near future. There have been such big improvements in the study and to keep it going and to reach reality they need funding to continue. We are participating in a 10km charity walk to help raise funds and keep hope that Mason will stay with us until human trials and that it will help, but regardless we want to help future kids diagnosed with NKH get the gene therapy and thrive. But also, to support Kai’s family as his birthday soon approaches and he will forever be loved and thought of.
