Story
I’m taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Sailors’ Children’s Society, a charity that has been supporting children from seafaring families for over 200 years.
Behind every statistic is a real child. Children like those whose parents go to sea to provide for their families, but who are left vulnerable when tragedy strikes. Some have lost a parent, others are living in poverty after a family breakdown or illness. Many face going without the basics most of us take for granted – warm winter coats, school uniforms, or even a proper meal at Christmas.
Sailors’ Children’s Society steps in to make sure these children are not left behind. They provide monthly support for food and bills, grants for school uniforms, Christmas gifts, and even opportunities like tutoring or after-school activities to help children grow in confidence.
Every £1 raised through this run goes directly towards changing a child’s life.
