Sunday 28th to Tuesday 30th September 2025

Always being up for a challenge and with 28 being my lucky number, I felt inspired to play my part in the Sussex MY28 Initiative. This incredible initiative sees Sussex Freemasons aiming to raise £280,000 towards a £2.8 million target for the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) by June 2028.

You’ll no doubt already know that every single £1 donated to the MCF goes directly to a charitable cause, as all administration costs are covered by its members.

You’ve likely seen the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance in action, providing vital emergency care. If your child has ever visited A&E in Sussex, chances are they received a comforting teddy bear from our Teddies for Loving Care initiative. Or perhaps you’ve benefited from a local hospice, foodbank, or are connected to a scout, guide, or youth organisation, all of which are supported by the MCF, thanks to generous donors like you.

To support this fantastic cause, I’ve set myself a personal MY28 challenge: to walk for 28 hours over 3 days, covering the full 80-mile width of Sussex, from Bognor Regis in the west to Rye in the east. Along the way, I’ll tackle the demanding climbs of Seven Sisters, Birling Gap, and Beachy Head.

I’m inviting others to join me too, whether it’s for a mile, an hour, or a day and to start your own fundraising efforts as well or just to give me encouragement. I know I will need it and would love to see a friendly face or two along the way.

My fundraising target is £2,828, and with your support, I know we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
