Nicky Lopez has been our chief fundraiser over the past three years. Now others are joining him to help reach our target.

Story

On 6 April I will run 13.1 miles through the heart of London — not because I am a runner (as most people who know me will appreciate), but because I believe in something greater. I believe in the transformative power of education. And I believe that every child, no matter where they are born, deserves that chance.

Education has shaped the very core of who I am. As I approach the final stage of my PhD, I reflect on the decade of learning and sharing knowledge — not because it has been easy, but because it is necessary. The ability to think critically and to carve out a better future — these are not luxuries; they are rights. And yet, for so many children around the world, access to quality education remains a distant hope.

Workneh Dechasa understood this. He dedicated his life to helping children navigate a new world through the gift of learning. Though he did not live to see his dream of building a school in his hometown in Ethiopia, his family and friends are carrying that dream forward. I am honoured to run in support of their mission — to help raise £100,000 to construct a school that will stand as a testament to his legacy and a beacon of opportunity for generations to come.

If you believe in this as I do, please consider donating. Every contribution brings us closer to building something that will outlive us all.

I am hugely grateful for the unparalleled wisdom and relentless coaching of Equinox experts — Nicky Lopez, Natalie Hope, Charlie Peters, and many others.
