Mera Peak Treak, Himalayas · 4 April 2025

Shrijna, a talented Year 8 Kabaddi player, and her brother Naveen rely on school meals from Akshaya Patra. For many children in Uttarakhand, school meals mean nourishment and education. Just £15 feeds a child for a year—help us support 163 kids!

Story

I am embarking on an extraordinary journey to summit Mera Peak in Nepal at an elevation of 6,476m (21,247 ft) from April 3 to April 21, 2025. I'll be a part of a group of 7 dedicated friends from Bromley/Orpington aiming to summit on the 15th April 2025.

It will be the highest altitude I have ever been at, coping against extreme cold and low oxygen and this is quite a challenge but also promises to be a fantastic adventure with some mind blowing views an experiences.

Mera Peak provides 360-degree panoramic views of five mountains over 8000m: Mount Everest (8848m), Kangchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8485m) and Cho Oyu (8201m) as well as many other peaks of Khumbu Region.

This trek is not just a test of our physical endurance and mental resilience; it also symbolizes the daily struggles faced by millions of children across the world who pursue their education amidst hunger and hardship.

In this spirit of empathy and determination, we are raising funds to support The Akshaya Patra Foundation's (https://akshayapatra.org.uk/)vital mission: 'Sponsor a school in India: Food for Education.' Through its mid-day meal programme, Akshaya Patra works tirelessly to eliminate classroom hunger. For these children, every nutritious meal is a stepping stone towards their dreams—just as every step we take on our trek brings us closer to our summit.

We invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact. Your generous donation will not only egg us further in our journey but will also nourish the aspirations of countless children striving for a brighter future.

Together, let’s ensure that no child has to choose between education and hunger. My personal target is to hit a minimum of £750 and hopefully if you are reading this you will add to that number

Every contribution counts and brings us closer to achieving this goal.
