🛶 The Paddle Group’s Commando Paddle 2025

115 Nautical Miles | 6 Days | Honouring Heroes

This October (19th - 25th), The Paddle Group will launch from the gates of 43 Commando, embarking on a six-day, 115-nautical mile expedition through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.

Our mission? To honour the legacy of the British Commandos and raise vital funds for The Royal Marines Charity.

⚓ A Route Steeped in History. A Challenge Forged in Respect.

Paddling in 2-man Klepper folding kayaks, just like those used by wartime Special Forces, we’ll trace a brutal and beautiful route along Scotland’s west coast. These waters are no joke: unpredictable tides, fierce winds, open crossings, and relentless physical strain.

Along the way, we’ll stop at Lazaretto Point, a solemn and symbolic moment to pay our respects to the heroes of Operation Frankton, the daring WWII raid carried out by the legendary “Cockleshell Heroes.”

Our journey ends where Commando history lives and breathes: Achnacarry, the original Commando Training Centre. But even then, the work isn’t done.

We shoulder our boats and march, carrying not just the kayaks, but the memory of every Commando who trained, fought, and/or fell — to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.

🥇 Why We Paddle

This isn’t just a challenge. It’s a tribute.

To grit. To history. To sacrifice.

And to the men and women who serve — past and present.

We’re raising funds for The Royal Marines Charity, whose work supports veterans’ mental health, rehabilitation, and the wider Corps (serving and non-serving) family support.

Every mile we paddle, and every blister we earn, is for them.

💥 Get Involved
